The Dusun

     The Dusun is an 12 acre orchard resort close to Kuala Lumpur and its airports, although it feels like miles from anywhere. To be precise, it is only 1 hour 15 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur, 1 hour from the Kuala Lumpur International Airports and Low Cost Terminal (KLIA and LCCT) and 30 minutes east of Seremban, the capital of Negeri Sembilan.




1     Berembun House


     A Malay-style house on stilts, with verandahs on two sides. The large verandah on Berembun House has a big carved bench for lazing and reading plus a small barbecue stove for private dining. It looks out onto the Berembun Forest Reserve.

170 square feet / 52 square meter
Rates are nett, per house and include breakfast.

* This house is dog-friendly. We ask for dogs to have their own feeding bowls, beds and litter boxes. We do not allow dogs on the furniture.

Tembusu House


    The original Dusun house, it is an open concept house so the bedroom enjoys the view of trees and the distant Mantin hills. The bedroom and barbecue deck are on stilts while the kitchen and bathroom are on the ground. It is named after the mature Tembusu tree which shades it throughout the day and fills it with scent during the flowering season.

Sora House


Sora House is a modern villa full of light, which looks as if it is about to fly off into the jungle. It is designed by our son and his wife, who are in love with all things Japanese. Sora means “sky” in Japanese, with implications of lightness and flying. Once inside, the white decor and expanse of glass invite in the striking jungle scenery. Sora is 20 meters from the pool, but screened by a garden of bamboo and water plants.

            Emas House


   Emas, or golden in Malay, is a traditional Malay house which uses recycled hardwood extensively and incorporates many unique pieces from Helen’s scouring of junk yards. The house is shaded by trees most of the day and its carved panels and shutter windows are designed for coolness. The wood has a golden hue that is lit by the setting sun. Emas House has a serene view over miles of rolling hills towards the Straits of Malacca. The house is set at the end of a gently sloping path of steps and is very private.

The Shorea

Boutique resort hotel next to the Berembun Forest Reserve



     The Shorea is an architect’s family retreat, built within in a tropical forest reserve. Its secluded villas are set on natural terrains, with meandering paths leading down to a jungle stream, a waterfall within the Berembun Forest Reserve; it is the ultimate forest getaway.
     The name ‘Shorea’ is a genus of about 196 species of rainforest trees which include Balau, Chengal, Merangti, Keruing, etc. The resort is constructed by using mainly the shorea timber species which is sourced locally.

Most of the resort is also constructed using recycled shorea timber, including main roof beams, timber pillars, staircases, balustrades, and timber bridge.

Dining

The Shorea provides breakfast. Guests are welcomed to do their own cooking in their villa’s kitchenette. All kitchenettes are equipped with a fridge, a rice cooker, a gas cooker, utensils and condiments.
Guests are also welcomed to use the common kitchen in the Shorea Dining Pavilion which has an oven and a generous preparation counter.
Barbeque facilities are provided for evening barbeques at each villa’s semi-outdoor terrace.
Meals can be catered via the Chef’s Menu in the Welcome Pack upon room reservation.

1.     Villa Shorea


Villa Shorea is a double storey, 2,000 square feet main villa, boasting the magnificent view of the mountain.
It consists of two adjoining bedrooms on the upper floor and a living hall, a dining hall, an outdoor terrace and a direct pool access on the lower floor. Villa Shorea has two bathrooms with vanity, WC and shower.
One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a single bed while the other bedroom has three single beds.
Villa Shorea is popular with groups and families up to 6 adults who prefer large space for gathering.

2.     Villa Bougainvillea


Villa Bougainvillea is 600 square feet in size and boasting magnificent views of the forest reserve and the Infinity pool.
Villa Bougainvillea is popular for couples or families of 3 adults and 1 child.
Villa Bougainvillea contains a king-size bed, a daybed, private kitchenette with cooking facilities and an outdoor balcony. It has a spacious semi-outdoor bathroom featuring a bathtub, vanity and WC.

3.     Villa Kemboja


Villa Kemboja is 400 square feet in size and is located at the highest point of the resort.
Villa Kemboja is suitable for couples who want ultimate privacy and a spectacular view.
Villa Kemboja has a king-size bed. Extra mattress can be provided upon request. It has a private kitchenette with cooking facilities, a barbeque area within an enclosed dining courtyard and a balcony. It has a bathroom featuring vanity, outdoor rain shower and WC.

4.     Villa Halia (Corner Suite)


The double volume Villa Halia (Corner Suite) is 350 square feet in size and is interconnected to Villa Shorea.
The Corner Suite has a king-size bed, a private kitchenette, an outdoor deck for barbeque, private dining or outdoor massage. The bathroom comes with an outdoor long bath, vanity and WC.

The whole Villa Shorea + Villa Halia can accommodate up to 8 adults. For privacy, Villa Halia is only available to those who take Villa Shorea.
